Project ACCRA (Autonomous and Connected vehicles for CleaneR Air) proposes to use Connected Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) technology to address one of the most pressing public health issues affecting urban areas across the UK, Europe and worldwide – poor air quality due to vehicle emissions. In the UK alone DEFRA estimate that poor air quality leads to 50,000 premature deaths per year.
Cooperative data is set to provide a vast new resource for traffic managers. Organised and presented effectively, it will unlock insights about their traffic networks. The Flourish project investigates how to deliver insight with this new source of data.
CAPRI is a consortium of experienced partners from industry, academia, public sector authorities and local government, working together to deliver a complete Pod On Demand mobility service. Led by AECOM, the consortium will take forward current research and development work on Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and lead the way to the new generation of PODs that will be capable of seamlessly transferring between the on-road and pedestrian environments.
